The EAB Racing Team lined up this weekend for the ninth round of the FIM World Supersport Championship at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in France. From Friday, September 5, till Sunday, September 7, the team and Bryan D’Onofrio worked their way to a 20th place finish in Race 1 and 23rd in Race 2.
Bryan D’Onofrio, usually competing in the Italian CIV Supersport Championship on a Ducati Panigale V2, is taking on the final part of the World Supersport season with the Dutch-based EAB Racing Team. The goal is clear: to gain as much experience as possible for both rider and team in a highly competitive international field.
The weekend started on Friday under sunny skies and good temperatures. For Bryan, Magny-Cours was a completely new track, so the focus was entirely on learning the technical layout. He ended free practice in 31st position, followed by a 28th place on the grid after Superpole. Both the rider and the team were satisfied with the progress, especially as many laps were completed, which were crucial in building a solid rhythm.
Race 1on saturday took place in dry and warm conditions. Bryan delivered a solid performance, steadily improving his pace throughout the race. He stayed focused and managed to set strong lap times in the closing stages of the race. He crossed the line in 20th position, a result that gave confidence ahead of Sunday’s race.
On Sunday, Race 2 was held in hot conditions with temperatures around thirty degrees. Bryan struggled with grip but managed to finish the race in 23rd place. Despite the challenge, the overall feeling after the weekend was positive. With the valuable data gathered at Magny-Cours, the team now looks ahead to Aragon to continue building on this way
Pjotr Groenenberg (teammanager): “After the summer break we started the final part of the season. I’m happy that we can do this together with Bryan and keep making progress step by step towards the end of the year. Magny-Cours was a completely new track for him, and the same will be true for the coming rounds, so there’s still work to do. Still, I look back positively: Bryan works hard, learns quickly, and is getting more and more comfortable with the Pirelli tyres and the Ducati.”
Bryan D’Onofrio: “This weekend was Round 9 of WorldSBK at Magny-Cours, a track that was completely new to me. Step by step I focused on improving every session, and together with the team we managed to build a solid pace. In Race 1 I finished 20th and in Race 2 I came home 23rd. I really enjoyed the experience and I’m pleased with the progress we made. Even though the track was challenging, I learned a lot, and that gives me confidence and motivation for the next rounds.”
The EAB Racing Team looks back positively on the weekend in France. The cooperation with Bryan continues to develop well and provides valuable insights for the upcoming races. Next on the calendar is Motorland Aragon in Spain, where the tenth race weekend of the season takes place from Friday, September 26, to Sunday, September 28.
Solide progressie voor EAB Racing Team en Bryan D’Onofrio tijdens World Supersport in Magny-Cours
Het EAB Racing Team stond dit weekend aan de start van het negende wedstrijdweekend van het FIM World Supersport Championship op het Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in Frankrijk. Van vrijdag 5 tot en met zondag 7 september reed het team samen met Bryan D’Onofrio richting een 20e plaats in de eerste race en een 23e in de tweede race
Bryan D’Onofrio normaal actief in het Italiaanse CIV Supersport kampioenschap op een Ducati Panigale V2 – rijdt het laatste deel van het WK Supersport seizoen in de kleuren van het Nederlandse EAB Racing Team. Het doel is helder, zoveel mogelijk ervaring opdoen voor zowel de rijder als het team in een sterk internationaal deelnemersveld.
Op vrijdag begon het raceweekend onder zonnige omstandigheden en prettige temperaturen. Voor Bryan was Magny-Cours een compleet nieuw circuit, en de focus lag daarom volledig op het leren kennen van de technische lay-out. De vrije training sloot hij af op de 31e positie, gevolgd door een 28e startplek in de Superpole. De team en de rijder waren tevreden met de progressie, vooral omdat veel ronden gereden konden worden die essentieel waren om een goed ritme te ontwikkelen.
De eerste race op zaterdag werd verreden in aangename en droge omstandigheden. Bryan had een solide optreden en wist zijn tempo gedurende de race steeds verder te verbeteren. Hij bleef gefocust in een wedstrijd vol actie en kon aan het einde enkele sterke rondetijden noteren. De race werd afgesloten op de 20e plaats, een resultaat dat vertrouwen gaf richting de tweede race.
Zondag werd de tweede race verreden onder opnieuw warme omstandigheden rondom de dertig graden. Bryan had het lastig met de grip, maar wist de wedstrijd toch keurig uit te rijden met een 23e plek als resultaat. Ondanks de uitdaging werd er met een tevreden gevoel teruggeblikt. Met de waardevolle data die in Magny-Cours is verzameld, kijkt het team nu vooruit naar Aragon om daar verder te bouwen aan de ontwikkeling.
Pjotr Groenenberg (teammanager): “Na de zomerstop zijn we gestart met het laatste deel van het seizoen. Ik ben blij dat we dit samen met Bryan kunnen doen en stap voor stap progressie blijven maken richting het einde van het jaar. Magny-Cours was voor hem een compleet nieuw circuit, en dat geldt ook voor de komende banen, dus daar ligt nog het nodige werk. Toch kijk ik positief terug: Bryan werkt hard, leert snel en begint de Pirelli-banden en de Ducati steeds beter aan te voelen en echt eigen te maken.”
Bryan D’Onofrio: “Dit weekend stond de negende ronde van WorldSBK op het programma in Magny-Cours, een circuit dat helemaal nieuw voor mij was. Stap voor stap heb ik me elke sessie kunnen verbeteren en samen met het team hebben we een goed tempo opgebouwd. In Race 1 kwam ik als 20e over de finish en in Race 2 als 23e. Ik heb er echt van genoten en ben tevreden met de vooruitgang die we hebben geboekt. Ondanks dat het circuit uitdagend was, heb ik veel geleerd en dat geeft me vertrouwen en motivatie voor de komende races.”
Het EAB Racing Team kijkt positief terug op het weekend in Frankrijk. De samenwerking met Bryan verloopt goed en levert waardevolle inzichten op voor de aankomende races. De volgende ronde op de kalender is Motorland Aragon in Spanje, waar van vrijdag 26 tot en met zondag 28 september het tiende raceweekend van het seizoen plaatsvindt.
