EAB Racing Team completed another positive race weekend in the FIM Supersport World Championship at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. Together with Simon Jespersen, the team showed competitive pace throughout the weekend and scored valuable championship points in both races.
The Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round started strongly on Friday. Under sunny and warm conditions, Simon Jespersen immediately showed that the base was strong by setting the fastest time in Free Practice. It was an excellent start to the weekend and a clear confirmation that the direction with the setup was right. In Superpole, the team could not fully convert that speed into a front-row starting position, but twelfth place still provided a solid starting point in a very competitive WorldSSP field.
The first race on Saturday delivered a strong result. Simon had a solid race and remained in the fight for the top ten throughout. With consistent pace and a strong race performance, he eventually brought the Ducati Panigale V2 home in eighth place. It was a solid top-ten finish and another important result for the team in a highly competitive championship.
Sunday proved to be much more hectic. During Warm Up in the morning, Simon suffered a heavy crash. Fortunately, he escaped almost unharmed, but the team had to work hard to get the machine ready in time for the second race. Thanks to a strong effort from the crew, the Ducati was prepared on time. However, Race 2 became a tough and demanding race, especially after the crash earlier in the day. Simon had to dig deep, but fought for everything he had and eventually finished the race in eleventh place. It was a strong result after a difficult start to Sunday and again brought important points for the team.
Simon Jespersen: “Overall, it was a positive weekend. We started Friday very strongly with the fastest time in Free Practice, which gave us confidence. Qualifying was not exactly what we wanted, but the speed was definitely there. In Race 1 we were able to take a good eighth place, which was a strong result. Sunday was much tougher after the crash in Warm Up. I could definitely feel it, but the team did a great job to get the bike ready and I wanted to finish the weekend in a good way. P11 was certainly not easy, but we fought for it and scored points again.”

The first place in Free Practice on Friday showed that the speed is there, even though we could not fully convert that into the starting position we wanted in Superpole. The field is extremely close, so small details immediately make a big difference. The team worked hard throughout the weekend to improve the setup step by step, and Simon did a strong job in both races to score valuable points.”
With another points finish in both races, EAB Racing Team continues to make progress in the FIM Supersport World Championship. The next round will take place from 10 to 12 July at Donington Park in the United Kingdom, where the team aims to continue its upward line and fight for points again.
Positief weekend in Misano voor EAB Racing Team
EAB Racing Team heeft opnieuw een positief raceweekend afgewerkt in het FIM Supersport World Championship op het Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. Samen met Simon Jespersen liet het team gedurende het weekend een competitieve snelheid zien en werden in beide races waardevolle kampioenschapspunten gescoord.
De Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round begon sterk op vrijdag. Onder zonnige en warme omstandigheden liet Simon Jespersen direct zien dat de basis goed was door de snelste tijd te rijden in de vrije training. Het was een uitstekende start van het weekend en een duidelijke bevestiging dat de richting met de afstelling klopte. In de Superpole kon het team deze snelheid niet volledig omzetten in een startpositie vooraan, maar met een twaalfde plaats was er nog altijd sprake van een solide uitgangspositie in een zeer competitief WorldSSP-veld.
De eerste race op zaterdag leverde een sterk resultaat op. Simon kende een solide wedstrijd en bleef gedurende de race in de strijd om de top tien. Met een constante pace en sterk raceverloop bracht hij de Ducati Panigale V2 uiteindelijk als achtste over de finish. Een nette top tien klassering en opnieuw een belangrijk resultaat voor het team in een sterk bezet kampioenschap.
De zondag verliep een stuk hectischer. Tijdens de warm-up in de ochtend kwam Simon stevig ten val. Gelukkig bleef hij nagenoeg ongeschonden, maar het team moest flink aan de bak om de machine op tijd klaar te krijgen voor de tweede race. Dankzij sterk werk van de crew stond de Ducati op tijd gereed. Maar deze tweede race werd een zware en veeleisende wedstrijd, zeker na de crash eerder op de dag. Simon reed op het tandvlees, maar vocht voor wat hij waard was en wist de race uiteindelijk als elfde te finishen. Een knap resultaat na een moeilijke start van de zondag en wederom belangrijke punten voor het team.
Simon Jespersen: “Het was over het algemeen een positief weekend. Vrijdag begonnen we heel sterk met de snelste tijd in de vrije training en dat gaf vertrouwen. De kwalificatie was niet helemaal wat we wilden, maar de snelheid was er zeker. In Race 1 konden we een goede achtste plaats pakken en dat was een sterk resultaat. Zondag was een stuk lastiger na de crash in de warm-up. Ik voelde het wel, maar het team heeft geweldig werk geleverd om de motor klaar te krijgen en ik wilde het weekend goed afsluiten. P11 was zeker niet makkelijk, maar we hebben ervoor gevochten en opnieuw punten gepakt.”
Pjotr Groenenberg, Teammanager: “Over het algemeen kunnen we terugkijken op een positief weekend in Misano. De eerste plaats in de vrije training op vrijdag liet zien dat de snelheid aanwezig is, ook al konden we dat in de Superpole niet volledig omzetten naar de gewenste startpositie. Het veld zit ontzettend dicht bij elkaar, waardoor kleine details direct veel verschil maken. Het team heeft het hele weekend hard gewerkt om de afstelling stap voor stap te verbeteren en Simon heeft in beide races sterk werk geleverd en waardevolle punten te scoren.”
Met opnieuw een puntenfinish in beide races blijft EAB Racing Team progressie boeken in het FIM Supersport World Championship. De volgende ronde staat van 10 tot en met 12 juli op het programma op Donington Park in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, waar het team de stijgende lijn wil voortzetten en opnieuw wil strijden voor punten.
