Not the results were the EAB Racing Team was hoping for in Donington Park

The EAB Racing Team and Glenn van Straalen rode at the Donington Park circuit in England last weekend. It was a weekend with mixed feeling for Dutch team in the FIM World Supersport Championship. The EAB Racing Team took a fifth and tenth place in the races.

In the weekend from June 30 to July 2, the sixth race weekend was scheduled. Friday was heavily clouded together with several rain showers and a strong wind. Not ideal conditions during the free practice sessions. Glenn didn’t have the optimal feeling on the opening day and had to do this during Superpole on Saturday.

The EAB Racing Team rider made a good step forward during Superpole on Saturday morning. The feeling with the Yamaha YZF-R6 was better and this resulted in a seventh place on the grid for the races later in the weekend.

During the first race on Saturday afternoon, Glenn had a good start. He won some places in the openingstages and rode on the fifth place. Glenn led this group for most of the race and showed himself strongly. In the last two laps Glenn was passed and made a small mistake. This cost the 22-year-old Dutchman two places. An overtaking maneuver by a colleague rider in the last corner on the last lap, resulted in two rider who went wide. This allowed Glenn to take back his fifth position and cross the line in fifth.

Glenn: “Overall it was not the best weekend in Donington. Friday started a bit difficult, we didn’t had the right feeling with the machine and the weather conditions were not good. On Saturday we had a good performance in Superpole and managed to qualify in seventh place. The first race was good and I was leading a nice group of riders. In the end we finish in a fifth place. Unfortunately, we had a poor start in the second race, I struggled to make up positions during the race. We therefore had to settle for tenth place. I want to thank the EAB Racing Team for this weekend, we are going to get ready for the next race in Imola.”

The next race weekend will take place in two weeks at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola circuit. This will be held in the weekend from 14 to 16 July.
