Last weekend the EAB Racing Team rode the fifth race weekend of the FIM World Supersport Championship at the World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano. A weekend with mixed feeling, we saw the dutchman at a seventh place in the first race and a 22nd place in the second race.
The weekend from two to four June was dominated by the race weekend in Misano. The entire weekend was held under summery conditions. The team had a good start during the free practices on Friday. Glenn had a good feeling with his Yamaha YZF-R6 and that gave him confidence for the rest of the weekend. After the two free practice sessions, we him in seventh place overall.
Glenn got into his rhythm during the Superpole session on Saturday morning. In the closing stages of this qualifying session he worked his way forward and managed to ride his Yamaha to fifth place on the grid. With this, Glenn was allowed to start the races in Misano from the second row.
The first race started on Saturday afternoon. Glenn had a good start and was able to hold his position. In the opening he was pushed wide by another rider. As a result, the 22-year-old rider lost several places. This made it difficult to ride forward. Glenn showed he had the right race pace and finished in seventh place.
On Sunday afternoon we saw the second race of the weekend. The race started well for Glenn, he kept his positions and fought at the head of the field. After a few laps, the Yamaha rider came into contact with another rider while overtaking, resulting in a crash. Glenn was able to pick up his bike and eventually finish the race in 22nd.
Glenn: “We showed all weekend that we have the right pace. On Friday we got off to a strong start during the free practice sessions. The Yamaha YZF-R6 felt good and I was able to work on my rhythm. During the Superpole I managed to qualify in fifth place. In the first race I was in a good position, unfortunately I was pushed wide and lost ground to the other riders. Nevertheless, we managed to achieve a good seventh place. The second race started strong, I managed to mix with the leading group, until I came into contact with another rider, resulting in a crash. Not how we wanted to end the weekend. I want to thank the EAB Racing Team for this weekend. On to Donington.”
The next race weekend will be held from June 30 to July 2 at Donington Park circuit in England.
