The fourth race weekend in the world championship is over for Glenn van Straalen and the EAB Racing Team. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was the place to be. In the weekend from friday 5 May to Sunday 7 May. A good weekend for the Dutch duo with a fourth place in race one and a fifth place in race two.
The opening day at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya circuit was difficult for Glenn. He started the first free practice well but was unable to continue in the second practice. The EAB Racing Team rider had to find the right feeling on a warm and sunny Spanish circuit.
During the Superpole session on Saturday morning, the 22-year-old from Hoogkarspel was able to make good progress compared to Friday. Glenn started the races from fifth on the grid.
On Saturday afternoon, the lights turned green for the first race of the weekend. Glenn had a good start but had some brake issues on the opening laps. He also had to get used to the feeling of a full tank. He rode at the end of the leading group for a long time, but had to let it go during the race, until the group fell apart. In the end, the young Dutchman fights his way back to the front with a good fourth place as a result.
Glenn rode his second race on Sunday in the early afternoon and finished in fifth place. In the beginning, the young Dutchman was able to fight with the leading group but had to let them go midway through the race as he was having trouble with the front of the machine. Afterwards Glenn rode a good pace and worked his way up to a decent fifth place. A good weekend for the EAB Racing Team rider.
Glenn: “It was a positive weekend in Barcelona during the fourth round of the championship. Friday we had a difficult start but we bounced back strongly in the Superpole session on Saturday morning. Together with the team we showed a strong weekend and I am happy with these results in Catalunya. The team has done a good job and I am very grateful for that. I am looking forward to the next race in Misano where we had a good test. Thanks to the EAB Racing Team for this weekend.”
The next event is the first weekend in June. From 2 to 4 June, the race will be held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy.
