EAB Racing Team shows good progress during World Supersport in Motorland Aragon

The EAB Racing Team and Glenn van Straalen rode their race for the FIM World Supersport Championship at the Motorland in Aragon during the weekend of September 22 to 24. It was a positive weekend for the EAB Racing Team in Spain despite the last race. Glenn ends the weekend with an eighth place in the first race and suffers an early crash during the second race.

On Friday morning, Glenn started his weekend well under the Spanish sun. He worked on his rhythm and got up to speed. During the second free practice, the Yamaha rider started well and was able to make the desired progression. After he put on different tires for the second stint, there was no time improvement and he ended the free practice sessions in twelfth place overall. The feeling was positive, but small steps had still need to be made.

During the Superpole on Saturday morning, Glenn was able to make the right progress. The young Dutchman had a tow in the first stint, which allowed him to improve his time. With the second stint Glenn rode alone, which made improving his time more difficult. He managed to improve his lap time by a small difference and was able to qualify in ninth place for the races to be held later in the weekend.

The first race on Saturday afternoon was positive for the EAB Racing Team rider. He had a good opening and joined a group fighting for the top positions in the race. Halfway through the race, Glenn has some difficulty with the pace and loses ground on this group. But he shows a strong race, but goes off track on the last lap, resulting in a track limits. This puts him back one place in the final results and finishes the first race in eighth.

During the second race at Motorland Aragon, Glenn unfortunately crashed at the start. He got a highsider coming out of the first corner and was thrown from his machine. This unfortunately meant an early end to his race. Fortunately, Glenn himself is unhurt, but is of course disappointed by the crash.

Glenn: “Overall the speed was good over the weekend. The first race was positive and I was in a good position. Halfway through the race I lost connection with the group. Despite that, I rode a good race and finished in eighth place. Unfortunately, the second race race was over quickly. It’s sad to have to end the weekend like this, after we had a good race on Saturday. We have to take our speed to Portimão and then I expect we can be there again. Thanks to the EAB Racing Team for the weekend.”

The EAB Racing Team will directly travel to Portugal where the penultimate race weekend of the season will take place next weekend. This takes place on the weekend of September 29 to October 1 and the place of action this time is the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
