EAB Racing Team once again completed a solid race weekend during the Czech Round at Autodrom Most in the FIM Supersport World Championship. Together with Simon Jespersen, the team showed a competitive pace throughout the weekend and once again achieved a top ten result in the first race with a tenth place. Unfortunately, the race came to an early end during race two due to a crash.
Friday marked a positive start to the weekend under dry but significantly cooler conditions at the Czech circuit. The team immediately found a strong base setup and Simon showed competitive speed from the opening session onwards. The Danish rider finished Free Practice in thirteenth position. The positive feeling continued into qualifying, where Jespersen secured ninth place in Superpole, earning a third row start for Saturday’s first race.
Saturday’s Race 1 once again confirmed the steady progress the team has shown in recent rounds. Jespersen made a strong start and remained competitive around the top ten positions during the opening stages of the race. Midway through the race he lost some ground within the group, but in the closing stages he managed to secure another top ten finish with a tenth place thanks to consistent lap times.
Sunday’s second race unfortunately ended prematurely after a crash midway through the race, resulting in a DNF. Despite the disappointing outcome, the weekend once again showed that the pace and progress within the team were clearly present throughout all sessions.
Simon Jespersen: “We had a good feeling throughout the whole weekend and the speed was clearly there again. Race 1 was good and we managed to secure another top ten result. Unfortunately Race 2 ended early due to the crash, which is of course frustrating, but we take the positives from the weekend and now focus on coming back strong at the next round in Aragón.”
Pjotr Groenenberg (Team Manager): “Overall, this was another positive weekend for us. The pace was there from the beginning and we managed to stay consistent throughout all sessions. Of course, the crash in Race 2 is disappointing, but sometimes these things are also part of racing. The most important thing is that we once again showed progress and were consistently able to fight around the top ten.”
After another competitive weekend, EAB Racing Team now shifts its focus towards the next round of the championship. In two weeks’ time the World Supersport Championship returns to action. From May 29 to 31, the championship heads to Spain for the round at MotorLand Aragón.
EAB Racing Team zet stijgende lijn voort tijdens Tsjechische ronde op Autodrom Most
EAB Racing Team heeft opnieuw een solide wedstrijdweekend afgewerkt tijdens de Czech Round op Autodrom Most in het FIM Supersport World Championship. Samen met Simon Jespersen liet het team gedurende het gehele weekend een competitieve pace zien en werd opnieuw een top tien resultaat behaald in de eerste race met een tiende plaats. Helaas kwam de wedstrijd tijdens race twee vroegtijdig ten eind door een valpartij.
De vrijdag vormde een positieve start van het weekend onder droge maar aanzienlijk frisse omstandigheden op het Tsjechische circuit. Het team vond direct een sterke basisafstelling en Simon liet vanaf de eerste sessie een competitieve snelheid zien. De vrije training sloot de Deen af op een dertiende plaats. Het positieve gevoel werd doorgezet in de kwalificatie. Tijdens de Superpole noteerde Jespersen de negende tijd, goed voor een startplaats op de derde startrij voor de eerste race op zaterdag.
De eerste race op zaterdag bevestigde de constante progressie van het team in de afgelopen rondes. Jespersen kende een sterke start en bleef gedurende de openingsfase competitief rondom de top tien posities. Halverwege de race moest hij iets terrein prijsgeven binnen de groep, maar in de slotfase wist hij met constante rondetijden opnieuw een top tien resultaat veilig te stellen met een tiende plaats.
De tweede race op zondag eindigde helaas voortijdig na een valpartij halverwege de wedstrijd, met een nulscore als gevolg. Ondanks de teleurstellende afloop liet het weekend opnieuw zien dat de snelheid en progressie binnen het team duidelijk aanwezig waren gedurende alle sessies.
Simon Jespersen: “We hadden het hele weekend een goed gevoel en de snelheid was opnieuw duidelijk aanwezig. Race 1 was goed en daarin wisten we opnieuw een top tien resultaat te behalen. Helaas eindigde de tweede race vroegtijdig vanwege een valpartij, wat natuurlijk frustrerend is, maar we nemen de positieve punten van het weekend mee en richten ons nu op een sterk vervolg tijdens de volgende ronde in Aragon.
Pjotr Groenenberg (Teammanager): “Over het algemeen was het opnieuw een positief weekend voor ons. De snelheid was er vanaf het begin en we wisten gedurende alle sessies consistent te blijven. Natuurlijk is de valpartij in Race 2 teleurstellend, maar dit hoort er soms ook bij. Het belangrijkste is dat we opnieuw progressie hebben laten zien en constant mee kunnen strijden rondom de top tien.”
Na opnieuw een competitief weekend richt EAB Racing Team zich nu op de volgende ronde van het kampioenschap. Over twee weken komt het World Supersport weer in actie. Van 29 tot en met 31 mei is het kampioenschap te gast in Spanje op het MotorLand Aragón.
