The EAB Racing Team has officially started the new season. The Dutch team completed a two-day test at the Jerez circuit in Spain. The first impressions of both the new Ducati machine and rider Niki Tuuli were good.
It has been an intense winter period for the EAB Racing Team. The team has switched to a Ducati machine and has a new rider. Finnish rider Niki Tuuli will hunt for success together with the team. Behind the scenes there is a lot of work been done to prepare the brand-new Ducati Panigale V2 motorcycle for the new FIM World Supersport season.
The EAB Racing Team finished a two-day test under the Spanish sun at the Circuito de Jerez. A completely new setting for the team and that naturally presents challenges. In the beginning the Ducati machine experienced some problems, which were later solved. However, there were difficulties with the data which meant that the machine had to be developed based on Niki’s instincts. On the other hand, the speed was there soon and the Finnish rider showed a strong pace. It has been a valuable test for both team and rider.
Kor Veldman: “In general we are satisfied with how the first test went with Ducati and Niki. We had some problems, but later we were faster than last year and there is certainly room for more improvement. So that is a positive end of a two-day test in Jerez. Now we are getting everything ready for the final test in Australia and then hoping that everything works as we want and can take another step forwards.”
Niki Tuuli: “For the first time we had a good test and are happy that the bike worked. In a short time, the team worked hard. Despite some issues with small details and the data. We don’t had data, so that made the test a bit harder for us. We had to it on the old way and set up the bike on how I feel. In the end I would say our race pace is good, but I need more confidence on the soft tires. For now, I am happy what we achieved. Next time we go again in Australia. The next test will take place at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Australia. This happens on the Monday and Tuesday before the race weekend kicks off in the next weekend. It is an official WorldSBK test before the first race weekend of the season starts from February 23 to 25.
EAB Racing Team kent een positieve eerste test met Ducati en Niki Tuuli
Het EAB Racing Team is het nieuwe seizoen officieel begonnen. Het Nederlandse team heeft een tweedaagse test afgewerkt op het circuit van Jerez in Spanje. De eerste indruk van zowel de nieuwe Ducati machine als coureur Niki Tuuli zijn goed bevallen.
Het is een intense winterperiode geweest voor het EAB Racing Team. Zo is het team overgestapt naar een Ducati machine en heeft het een nieuwe rijder aangetrokken. De Finse coureur Niki Tuuli zal samen met het team op jacht gaan naar successen. Achter de schermen is er dan ook veel werk verricht om de hagelnieuwe Ducati Panigale V2 motorfiets klaar te maken voor het nieuwe FIM World Supersport seizoen.
Twee dagen lang is er getest onder de Spaanse zon op het Circuito de Jerez. Een compleet nieuwe setting voor het team en dat geeft uiteraard uitdagingen met zich mee. In het begin ondervond de Ducati machine nog wat problemen, dat later werd verholpen. Echter waren er wel moeilijkheden met de data, waardoor de machine op het gevoel van Niki moest worden ontwikkeld. Daarentegen was de snelheid al gauw aanwezig en liet de Finse coureur een sterk tempo zien. Het is een waardevolle test geweest voor zowel team als rijder.
Kor Veldman: “Over het algemeen zijn we tevreden met verloop van de eerste test met Ducati en Niki. We hadden wat problemen, maar we waren al sneller dan vorig jaar en er is zeker ruimte voor meer verbetering. Dat is dus een positief einde van een tweedaagse test in Jerez. Nu gaan we alles klaar maken voor de laatste test in Australië en hopen dan dat alles werkt zoals we willen en weer een stap voorwaarts kunnen maken.”
Niki Tuuli: “We hebben een goede eerste test gehad en zijn blij dat de motor werkte. In korte tijd heeft het team hard gewerkt, ondanks enkele problemen met kleine details en de data van de motor. We hadden geen data, dus dat maakte de test voor ons iets lastiger. We moesten het op de oude manier doen en de motor afstellen zoals ik mij voelde. Uiteindelijk is onze racesnelheid goed, maar heb ik meer vertrouwen nodig op de zachte banden. Voor nu ben ik blij met wat we hebben bereikt. Op naar de volgende test in Australië. De eerstvolgende test vindt plaats op het Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Australië. Dit gebeurt op de maandag en dinsdag voorafgaand aan het eerste raceweekend van het seizoen. Het is een officiële WorldSBK-test alvorens het raceweekend van 23 tot en met 25 februari van start gaat.
