The EAB Racing Team’s weekend at the Prosecco DOC UK Round in Donington Park has come to a premature end. Rider Harrison Voight has withdrawn from both World Supersport races due to a stomach flu, meaning the Dutch team will no longer be in action this weekend.
The final decision came on Saturday, when it became clear that Voight was not fit enough to race due to ongoing stomach issues. As a result, both Voight and the EAB Racing Team were forced to end their British round early.
Friday had already posed difficulties for Voight and his team. In the first free practice session, he struggled with the feel of his Ducati Panigale V2. Despite several setup changes ahead of Superpole, the problems persisted. The session was interrupted by an incident on the start/finish straight, and shortly after the restart, the young Australian ran off track. A stuck throttle prevented him from returning to the pits, causing him to lose valuable time. Ultimately, Voight was only able to complete one flying lap, placing him 32nd and last on the grid.
With Voight now sidelined and no further track action ahead, the curtain has fallen early on what turned out to be a tough weekend for the EAB Racing Team.
Einde raceweekend voor EAB Racing Team na uitval Voight door buikgriep
Het raceweekend van het EAB Racing Team op Donington Park is vroegtijdig ten einde gekomen. Coureur Harrison Voight heeft zich af moeten melden voor beide World Supersport-races vanwege een buikgriep. Daarmee komt er een voortijdig einde aan de Prosecco DOC UK Round voor het Nederlandse team.
De beslissing viel op zaterdag, toen duidelijk werd dat Voight vanwege aanhoudende klachten niet fit genoeg was om te racen. Zowel de jonge Australiër als het EAB Racing Team moest daardoor noodgedwongen de Britse ronde vroegtijdig beëindigen.
Ook de vrijdag verliep allesbehalve vlekkeloos. Tijdens de eerste vrije training kampte Voight met een slecht aanvoelende Ducati Panigale V2. Ondanks diverse aanpassingen aan de set-up richting de Superpole, bleef een goed resultaat uit. De sessie werd onderbroken door een incident op start/finish en kort na de herstart kwam Voight naast de baan met een val tot gevolg. Door een vastzittend gashendel kon hij niet terug naar de pits, waardoor veel kostbare tijd verloren ging. Uiteindelijk reed hij slechts één ronde en moest hij genoegen nemen met de 32e en laatste startpositie.
Met het uitvallen van Voight komt er vroegtijdig een eind aan een teleurstellend raceweekend voor het EAB Racing Team.
